American luxury streetwear brand Chrome Hearts has filed two trademark infringement lawsuits (case numbers 26-cv-9012 and 26-cv-9065) in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, with the lead legal firm GBC. The lawsuits target a comprehensive crackdown on cross-border sellers across all platforms.
The brand's core protected trademarks are the cross graphic and the letter combination "CH". The infringing products cover all categories, including silver jewelry, necklaces, leather clothing, bags, home décor, and phone cases. Numerous sellers are using Chrome Hearts' classic cross logo in their product images, prints, and titles, selling counterfeit jewelry at low prices, with some stores achieving monthly sales of thousands of units.
Following the court's temporary injunction, funds were frozen in nearly 500 affected stores. The brand is seeking statutory damages of $2,000 per item and punitive damages of three times the amount for malicious bulk infringement. Lawyers remind sellers of trendy accessories and vintage clothing that overseas luxury streetwear brands have extremely broad trademark protection; even subtle similarities can be considered infringement.
