Lazada Thailand, a subsidiary of Alibaba, has fully launched its Intellectual Property Protection Platform (IPP). Brands can submit trademark certificates online and file complaints against counterfeit or similar trademark shops with a single click, reducing the complaint processing time from 15 days to 7 days.
As of October 2025, 400 domestic and international brands have joined the system for rights protection, focusing on combating counterfeit shops opened by Thai trademark speculators who have registered Chinese brands. These shops cover multiple sectors including tea drinks, 3C products, apparel, and cosmetics. The platform's penalty rules are clear: first-time infringement results in the removal of the listing and deduction of store points; second-time infringement restricts participation in major promotional events; and third-time and subsequent infringements result in permanent store closure.
The platform also collaborates with the Thai Ministry of Intellectual Property for offline enforcement. After identifying infringing shops online, enforcement personnel can directly verify warehouse inventory and sources of goods offline, achieving integrated online and offline efforts to combat trademark infringement.
